What is psychiatry?

Psychiatry is medical care for mental health: diagnosing conditions like depression, anxiety and ADHD and treating them, usually with medication. For psychiatry in Vero Beach, you see a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner in our office or by secure video.
Telepsychiatry is the same care by video, available to patients anywhere in Florida. Your psychiatric provider works alongside your therapist and primary care provider so your plan fits together.
Who psychiatry is for
It's for children from age 10, teens and adults whose mood, anxiety, focus, behavior or sleep is getting in the way of daily life, or whose current medication isn't working well. For patients under 18, a parent or guardian takes part in care. Snowbirds and seasonal residents can be seen while they're here in Florida.
How psychiatric care works
It starts with a thorough evaluation, and you leave with a diagnosis (if appropriate) and a written plan. Shorter follow-ups check how you're doing, adjust doses and manage side effects.
Telepsychiatry is for patients in Florida; for patients under 18, a parent or guardian takes part in care. Some medications, including certain controlled substances, may require an in-person visit under federal and state rules.
